Last week I found myself taking the train into New York with my friend Scott. Scott has generously given me good business advice over the years, so I was happy to reciprocate when he said, “I am considering taking a new job, but the office is two hours away. Remarkable Work+Life “Balance” Trends from England

A couple of news items came to my attention related to some very interesting work+life “balance” related trends underway in England. One relates to the country’s upcoming election and another relates to an interesting survey.

While it may look the same on the outside, a lot of change is happening behind the scenes of our site. We are currently upgrading the functionality of the site’s technology especially as it relates to the Blogging software I will be using going forward.

What does this mean? It means that in addition to my weekly “commentary” blog (starting up again at the beginning of September), I will be blogging more frequently, albeit more briefly, in between as issues strike my fancy. In addition to money, prestige, and advancement, caregiving is one of the aspects of success that you may need to redefine. What does it mean to be a “good” caregiver–father, mother, or adult child of an aging parent—in the context of your desired work+life fit. That definition will be different for everyone.

Last week’s blog posting examined the reasons why work+life is an “everyone” issue. Both men and women experience numerous work+life fit transitions—big and small–over the course of their work and life. One of the most significant transitions comes with undertaking the care of an aging parent.
